Just thought I might share a couple things I learned during our trip to Europe….

1. Put that little strap around your wrist. Because when you offer to take a picture for a family so they can all be in it, you’re bound to fumble their nice digital camera and drop it right in front of them. Your stomach will hurt when it happens, trust me. And if you try and catch it, you will actually push it to the ground even harder. That will make you feel like puking.

2. Even if you know enough spanish to get around Spain, learn the phrase “short-term lease” (in spanish!) if that is in fact how you’ve arranged for a car. Spanish cops tend to get edgy really quickly if you have a spanish last name, a french car that is actually registered to your name, and an american passport. Especially at midnight in a tiny spanish town in the middle of nowhere. Trust me on this.

We’ve been in Europe now for just over a week. So far, mostly good.
